In a pointed message to the Congress leadership following his replacement as Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president, Amit Patkar on Monday questioned why he has been excluded from party meetings despite continuing to be part of All India Congress.

Stating that he had neither resigned from the party nor distanced himself from its activities, Patkar said his omission from meetings raises questions about the functioning of the organisation.

"I have not been invited to any meetings held by the GPCC so far. Since I am part of All India National Congress and Goa Congress office-bearer, the question arises whether there are two Congress parties functioning," Patkar said.

The remarks come amid efforts by the party's new leadership to project unity following the recent change at the helm of the state unit.

Patkar asserted that while positions may change, his commitment to the Congress and the people of Goa remains intact.

"Amit Patkar has not resigned; he has merely been replaced in the position. My commitment to the people of Goa remains unwavering. Positions come and go, but the battle for Goa is ongoing and will never stop. Congress is deeply rooted in my heart and no one can take that away from me," he said.

Seeking to dispel speculation about his future in the party, Patkar maintained that his political work would continue irrespective of organisational posts.

"The true strength lies not in titles or positions, but in the unwavering spirit of those who refuse to give up on Goa and its people. My commitment to Goa, to its people and to the values of public service remains unchanged," he said.

Patkar also indicated that he would continue pursuing several public issues that he had championed during his tenure as GPCC chief, including opposition to the rollout of smart electricity meters and other matters affecting citizens.
