A male pedestrian sustained serious injuries after being knocked down by a speeding sports bike near the Chicalim Village Panchayat on Wednesday evening. The Vasco police have registered a case and initiated further investigation.
According to the complaint filed by HC 4642 Suresh Dassar of Vasco Police Station, the incident occurred on July 16 at around 7.15 pm, when an unidentified rider of a sports bike, proceeding from Cortalim towards Chicalim Junction, rode in a rash and negligent manner. As the bike reached opposite the Chicalim Village Panchayat, it reportedly dashed into a pedestrian, identified as Ajit Kerketta, a native of Jharkhand, who was crossing the road from Vishant Bar towards the Panchayat.
Kerketta fell on the road and sustained injuries to his head and other parts of the body. He was immediately shifted to the Sub District Hospital in Chicalim and later referred to Goa Medical College, Bambolim, for further treatment.
Vasco police have registered an offence under sections 281 and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 134(a)(b) of the Motor Vehicles Act. The case is being investigated by HC Suresh Dassar under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
