Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said, local authorities at the village level must respond promptly in tackling water-logging on roads and highways during the monsoon to prevent accidents.
“If water is found accumulated on village roads or highways, the Sarpanch and Panch members should, if possible, arrange for its clearance through the Panchayat or inform the Public Works Department (PWD),” Sawant said
Sawant was speaking while interacting virtually with panchas, sarpanchas and Swayampurna Mitras across the State under Swayampurna Goa 2.0 where issues related to disaster management, agriculture, health and education were discussed.
Sawant emphasized that early intervention at the local level can help ensure public safety during heavy rains.
Sawant also underscored the need to ensure construction and other work sites are adequately barricaded even as he assured that the government is focussing on reducing flooding-related incidents and improving road conditions.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the 3-day deadline for house repair permissions and the 15-day deadline for house partition and additional house numbers for nuclear families will soon be extended to the cities and municipalities.
He said, that the government has taken up various development works alongside which an effort is being made to increase the "Happiness Index".
"We are working to increase the ease of living and ease of doing business by making government services easily available," he added.
