Road rage horror: Minor accident leads to brutal assault in Margao

In an incident linked to road rage and suggesting growing lawlessness in the State, two persons were brutally assaulted by a group of persons in front of the Old Hospicio building on Wednesday noon.

The incident occurred when there was a minor accident between two two-wheelers, triggering a murderous assault.

After the victim, a native of Uttarakhand, came at the receiving end, he rushed inside the Margao Urban Health Centre building. The group of assailants followed him inside the Urban Centre and thrashed the victim, Rashid Ali, and his brother, Shakid Ali, with fire extinguishers installed inside the building.

As the situation escalated, Fatorda Police Station in-charge, PI Nathan Almeida, rushed to the Urban Health Centre to take stock of the situation. Around 4-5 persons have been identified by the police and an investigation is underway to identify and arrest all the accused persons involved in the brutal attack on the Ali brothers.

Police said that Rashid has sustained multiple injuries on his head and body and has been referred to the South Goa District Hospital for treatment.

This is the fourth serious crime incident that has occurred in the jurisdiction of Fatorda Police Station, starting with the bid to rob the jewellery shop at Borda, the gang war incident on the Margao-Colva road at Mungul, the extortion case at Gogol, and Wednesday’s road rage incident.
