Even as Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai has sent a note to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to look into the sewage issue, which has raised a stink in the constituency, BJP State President Damu Naik on Wednesday said the local MLA will address the issue since he has been elected by the people.

When the media drew the attention of the BJP State Chief, an arch-rival of the Fatorda MLA, to the burning sewage issue in Fatorda, Damu shot back, “The MLA will look into the issue.”

Reminding that the MLA has been elected by the people three times, Damu further said, “The MLA will resolve the sewerage issue. If there are any illegal issues, the MLA will resolve them. If there are other issues, the MLA will resolve them, because the people have elected him,” asserting that he does not want to interfere in Fatorda when the people have elected an MLA.

The Fatorda MLA, heading the Goa Forward Party, has reportedly sent a note to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to engage a Goan agency to clean up the underground sewage line.

While several sewage chambers have been left damaged by the ongoing works of laying electric cables, manholes are spewing sewage near the Nehru Stadium and other places, with sources attributing the problem to clogging.
