Bombo Tawadkar (86), the father of Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar, passed away early Wednesday morning.
He was admitted at Goa Medical College and Hospital Bambolim on Tuesday and while undergoing treatment is reported to have suffered a massive heart attack and breathed his last at about 2.30 am on Wednesday. They body was brought to his native place and the final rites were performed at Amone-Poinguinim at 1.30 pm on Wednesday afternoon.
Bombo Tawadkar, a well-known farmer and folk artist, is survived by three sons, Anand, Arjun and Ramesh, daughters-in-law and grandchildren.
A number of leaders cutting across political parties visited the Tawadkar residence in Canacona to offer their condolences to the bereaved family.
The leaders included Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Goa BJP President Sadanand Tanawade, Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa and Cortalim MLA Anton Vas.
