Hike capped at 15% for new academic year

The Directorate of Education (DoE) has said that the unaided educational institutions will have to submit their fee structure for the upcoming academic year 2025-26 for approval.
As per the guidelines, unaided schools can hike their annual fees in the maximum range of 10-15 per cent, of the total approved fee charged during the previous year.
Sources informed that before the commencement of the academic year, the unaided schools must get their fee structure approved by DoE. The maximum permissible hike is 15 per cent.
“The schools will have to send the proposals for the department to examine and if it is in accordance with the High Court judgment, the approval is granted,” sources said.
The hike is to be decided by the school management committee in consultation with the representatives of the parent-teacher association (PTA).
The basic fee structure should have a minimum of five components: tuition fee, admission fee (applicable to new admissions only, regardless of grade at entry level), term fee, development fee, and refundable deposit, the guidelines stated.
The new academic year for Class VI to X and Class XII is set to commence on April 1, with a month-long summer break in May.
