The Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) is yet to decide on resuming the e-auction of iron ore dumps, the auction process that was halted in January following technical glitches.

As many as 125 bids were received for 18 iron ore dumps accounting to 5.2 million metric tonnes that were slated for e-auction. The largest dump with a total quantity of over 14 lakh metric tons was lying in the villages of Bandoli and Cormonem, followed by 11.7 lakh metric tons at Sonus Vonvoliem.

According to the sources, on January 30, a total of four dumps lying at Costi, Codli and Dudal, village with a total quantity of 74.45 lakh metric tons of ore was put up for e-auction. However, due to a technical issue, despite the e-auction, the process got halted and hence it was declared null and void.

On February 4, another four dumps lying at Codli, Santona were supposed to go for auction but the same could not take place and had to be postponed. The e-auction, which was initially scheduled for January 22 was postponed to January 30.
