Three tourists from Uttarakhand have been booked for performing dangerous stunts atop a moving car on the Mapusa-Porvorim highway.

The police action was taken after a video of the offence went viral on social media. The video showed a woman sitting on the roof of a moving Hyundai Creta while a man was seen standing through the vehicle's sunroof. The car was later traced by police, and the owner was booked.

Superintendent of Police (North) Rahul Gupta stated that Mapusa police contacted the car owner and summoned him to the police station for questioning.

It was revealed that the vehicle was rented out to Tushar Dhillon, Chetna Kumar and Tushar Kumar, who had arrived in Goa for a holiday and hired the private car from Candolim.

Gupta said the driver has been booked under Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act, while the owner of the vehicle was charged under Section 192. The vehicle was impounded and is currently held at the police station.

A detailed report on the incident is being sent to the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Mapusa for further action.
