PANAJI: A 23-year-old Baina resident has been booked by the Verna Police for the alleged repeated sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl over a span of nearly two years.
The accused, identified as Arun Chawan, was named in an FIR registered on Tuesday following a formal complaint lodged by the victim’s mother.
According to the police report, the minor was subjected to repeated forceful sexual intercourse between April 2024 and March 30, 2026. The alleged offenses took place at multiple locations, including the victim's residence in Sancoale and at Velsao Beach.
The Verna Police have registered the case under Section 65 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Section 8(2) of the Goa Children's Act (GCA), and Sections 4 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Further investigations are underway.
