PANAJI: In a raid conducted last night, Verna police busted an online gambling den near Tata Rio de Goa, Sancoale, during the India-Pakistan T20 Asia Cup clash. Five individuals were caught red-handed accepting bets on the high-stakes match.
The accused have been identified as 35-year-old Deepak Karwani from Madhya Pradesh, 25-year-old Manoj Mukhiya and 44-year-old Madan Mukhiya, both from Bihar, and 40-year-old Jagdish Choudhary and 25-year-old Arvind Vishwakarma, both from Maharashtra. All were residing in a rented house in Zuarinagar.
Police seized 54 mobile phones, seven laptops, two internet routers, a television, 17 bank passbooks, and other electronic devices, with an estimated total value of around ₹10 lakh. The items were attached under a seizure panchanama and taken into custody for further investigation.
