Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said that he will take "everybody" on board and hold consultations to resolve the ongoing taxi operators' imbroglio in the wake of his government releasing the draft policy to permit app-based taxi aggregators to enter the Goa market.

"I will resolve the taxi issue by taking everybody on board and holding consultations," Sawant said.

The chief minister was responding to a query from journalists at his post cabinet press conference on Wednesday.

Taxi operators in Goa have been up in arms against the draft guidelines released by the government to regulate the app-based transport aggregators.

Meanwhile, Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho on Tuesday said he is open to meeting taxi operators and other stakeholders on the taxi issue once the deadline for objections and suggestions to the draft Transport Aggregator Guidelines ends.

The Guidelines were released on May 20 and a one month deadline had been set for filing objections and suggestions.

“They (local taxi operators) can even launch their own app if they wish,” Godinho said, adding that the transport aggregator guidelines will be reviewed by the ruling party (BJP) and the cabinet before being finalised.

He said the goal was to provide seamless transportation in the State and curb the negative publicity Goa has been receiving over taxi-related issues.
