7 polling booths declared ‘critical’ in Mormugao

Seven of the 147 polling booths have been declared as ‘critical’ in Mormugao, as 1,13,732 voters will exercise their franchise at the Lok Sabha polls on Tuesday.

According to a source, six ‘critical’ polling booths are in Zuarinagar, while one is in Mangor Hill in Vasco constituency; one police inspector will be deployed as additional security measures.

“There will be a total of 735 police personnel deployed at the 147 polling booths, and every polling station will have an ASI, a head constable, and three police constables.”

“Besides police teams, a company of 90 CRPF personnel has been deployed for Mormugao taluka, and they will be distributed accordingly,” said the source.

Mormugao Taluka has a total of 1,13,732 voters, comprising 56,795 males, 56,933 females, and 4 transgenders.

The 147 polling booths are located in Vasco (46), Mormugao (30), Dabolim (30), and Cortalim (41).

Mormugao constituency has 20,134 voters (9,984 males and 10,150 females), Cortalim constituency has 31,344 voters (15,418 males and 15,926 females), Vasco constituency has 35,887 voters (18,295 males, 17,588 females, and 4 transgender voters), while Dabolim Constituency has 26,367 voters (13,098 males and 13,269 females).
