8 groups to take part in TAG’s 13th children’s tiatr competition

The 13th Children’s Tiatr Competition organised by the Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) will be held from January 20 to February 9, 2026, in collaboration with Ravindra Bhavan, Baina, Vasco-da-Gama. The event aims to nurture young talent and strengthen the foundation of Konkani tiatr from an early age.

Eight troupes will take part this year, presenting original children’s tiatrs that reflect creativity, social awareness and theatrical skills. The competition serves as a platform to encourage young artistes, writers and directors and support the continuity of tiatr in Goa.

The inaugural function will be held on January 20 at 3.30 pm, followed by the first performance at 4.00 pm. Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar will be the chief guest. Ronny Fernandes, Assistant Parish Priest of St Andrew’s Church, Vasco-da-Gama, will be the guest of honour, and Jayant Jadhav, chairman of Ravindra Bhavan, Vasco, will be the special invitee. All subsequent shows will begin daily at 4.00 pm.

The opening tiatr, Hem Amchem Daiz by Gloria Ferrao, will be staged on January 20, followed by Sanddlelim Thikam by Francisco Xavier Pereira on January 21. On January 22, Guneanvachi Saulli by The Rosary High School, Cujira, Bambolim, written by Austin Rodrigues and directed by Alisha Menezes, will be presented. Mono Avaz (The Silent Scream) by Sharon M Mazarello will be staged on January 23.

After a break, the competition will resume on February 2 with Ek Zunvo by Marcos Gonsalves, followed by Avoi Morom Mauxi Urom, written by Gabriel Crasto and directed by Dylan Vaz, on February 3. The final two performances will be Melody by Drishti Entertainments, directed by William Fernandes, on February 5, and Tem Yeunche Adim by Pio Esteves on February 9.

Entry to all shows is free on a first-come, first-served basis. TAG has asked the public to attend and support the young performers.
