Over three years after she went missing from Pillar, the Goa Police traced a woman in Karnataka with the help of call detail record (CDR) analysis.
Jyoti, who lived with her husband Hanumant Madar in Pillar had left her residence on November 8, 2019. On finding his wife missing at home and unaware of her whereabouts, the Bijapur-native husband lodged a missing person report with Agassaim police.
"Upon receipt of information, her mobile number was put for call monitoring and several efforts were made to trace her. However, Jyoti's mobile phone was not reachable and there was no initial clue. We kept monitoring her phone number through CDR analysis... the number was not reachable," North SP Nidhin Valsan said while revealing efforts to track the woman.
With her husband occasionally taking a follow-up from the police, the investigation team led by PI Vikram Naik tracked some suspected numbers having links with the missing woman's contact number. "The numbers were put on for SDR and CDR analysis. The location of one of the mobile numbers was found at Vijayapur in Bijapur.Further surveillance helped us track her whereabouts. We formed a team and with the help of Adarsh Nagar Police Station Vijayapur, Karnataka located her," Valsan said.
Her interrogation revealed that she was unhappy with her marriage as her husband allegedly did not treat her well. She denied being kidnapped or having eloped with another person.
At her new place, she lived alone in a rented room and is pursuing a nursing course.
"She was married for three years and was a housewife. She wanted to be a working woman and find socially independent," an officer said.
The Agassaim police have informed her husband who is on his way back to Goa to complete the legal formalities.
