Stating that the alignment work for Goa’s upcoming ring road project, at an estimated cost of Rs 15,000 crore, is underway, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said the project would mark the culmination of all major road infrastructure works in the State.

The union minister, however, chose not to divulge the route of the alignment. “I have deliberately withheld the route alignment to prevent speculative land purchases, especially by politicians,” said Gadkari.

Ponda-Bhoma road

Stating that the project tender for the Ponda-Bhoma road development project has been finalised, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said special care has been taken to preserve heritage sites along the route.

“The 10-km Ponda-Bhoma stretch, a part of the Hyderabad-Goa corridor, will include a 4.28-km six-lane elevated corridor. A special 76-metre span has been designed to safeguard the historic Bhoma temple and lake,” he said.

“We have also made a provision of Rs 30 lakh for the beautification of Bhoma lake.”

He noted that the entire corridor, which connects Telangana, Karnataka, and Goa, spans a total of 68 km, of which 17 km has already been completed.

Airport road redesign project

Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari stated that the Rs 460 crore redesign project of the Dabolim airport road is progressing and is expected to be completed by July 2026.

The union minister also mentioned that the DPR for the Rs 1,200 crore Borim bridge project has already begun.
