Goa Forward Party chief Vijai Sardesai has said party candidates had to fight Independents in some constituencies for the simple reason that the Congress-Goa Forward alliance message did not percolate down to the constituencies.
Further saying the Congress-Goa Forward alliance came a bit late, Sardesai said the alliance would have had cent per cent effect if it had to come early.
For the first time pointing out that Congress members fought against the Goa Forward party candidates as Independents, Sardesai said this only goes to show that the alliance concept did not reach the bottom after it was stitched by the leaders.
Exuding confidence that the Goa Forward would win a couple of seats in both North and South Goa, Sardesai said the party should win three seats in South Goa, besides 2-3 seats in North Goa. “The Goa Forward party is contesting the Zilla Panchayat polls for the first time. We had put in everything in the battle. Power has gone in the head of the BJP leaders. Hence, we wanted to show the BJP government that the ZP polls will be a trailer before the 2027 Assembly elections,” he said.
