On the occasion of the 50th Annual Sports day of GVM's MIBK High School, MIBK HS PTA in collaboration with Ponda taluka chess association organised a GVM High School level chess tournament. Hundred students participated in this tournament -- 20 each from Almeida HS, MIBK HS, Pragati HS, RPRS HS and KRSS HS.
Aston Dias, Asfiya Lashkarwale, Shivank Kuncolienkar and Janhavi Pauskar won the tournament in U-17 (Boys), U-17 (Girls), U-14 (Boys) and U-14 (Girls) category respectively. Anish Dhaimodkar, Sneh Parab, Akhil Naik, Kaushal Naik and Shubang Hudekar secured 2nd to 6th position in the U-17 Boys category.
Saniya Nadkarni, Anushka Mardolkar, Pradnya Khandeparkar, Varada Amonkar and Sanika Kelekar secured 2nd to 6th position in the U-17 Girls category. Siddhiraj Gaunkar, Swayam Naik, Yash Upadhye, Ayush Nagarsekar and Varun Shastry secured 2nd to 6th position in the U-14 Boys category. Atira Dias, Urja Dharvatker, Sejal Prabhu, Ruta Chafadkar and Kritika Mishra secured 2nd to 6th position in the U-14 Girls category.
The trophies were awarded at the hands of chief guest Kishor Bandekar (Secy, GCA) in the presence of Krishna Shetye (Chairman, GVM Working committee), Amogh Namshiker (President, Ponda Taluka Chess Association), Mayur Jalmi (Chairman, MIBK HS PTA) and Ashok Naik (Headmaster, MIBK HS).
