In a further crackdown on establishments operating without permissions in the aftermath of the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub tragedy in Arpora, Pernem Pernem Deputy Collector & SDO Shivprasad Naik ordered the sealing of OTTELLO restaurant in Arambol after an inspection reported illegal wooden cottages and pathways built on a salt pan.

Incidentally, the restaurant operates on land owned by former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar.

Acting on the order, Pernem Mamlatdar Akshaya Amonkar along with Talathi Mahesh Sawant and other officials sealed the OTTELLO restaurant at Bammanbhati-Arambol.

Naik issued an order in the matter, with the State represented by the Mamlatdar of Pernem as the complainant and Parsekar as the respondent.

In his order on Wednesday, Pernem Dy. Collector & SDO Shivprasad Naik stated that he had perused the report filed by Mamlatdar/Talathi of Pernem Taluka mentioning about a number of discrepancies noted in Sy No 52/1 of Arambol village in Pernem Taluka.

“A structure/restaurant in operation by name OTTELLO having approximately 700 sq. mts plinth including wooden cottages (has been) erected on permanent plinth. The wooden pathway/bridge (has been) erected in water bodies without obtaining the valid conversion sanad or permissions from authorities,” stated Naik.

“Gut book also speaks about the Sy no 52/1 is covered under water bodies/salt pan. Form I & XIV of Sy no 52/1 of Arambol village. The name of the field is recorded as Mithgar Madlawada, which means a salt pan. The Sy plan of Sy no 52/1 also depicts major part as water body. The regional plan also depicts as a salt pan. The Manual Form I & XIV also mentions the name of the place as Mithaghar Madlawada.”

Considering the status of the land of Sy no 52/1 of Arambol village, Naik said it clearly proves that the structures mentioned by the Talathi “have been erected in the salt pan without obtaining any permissions from the government authorities and being used for the commercial activities.”

“Considering the incident took place at Romeo Lane in Arpora village, It is necessity to take precautions to save the lives of the people who visit that place.”

“Since the structures are running without obtaining the permissions from the competent authorities in the Sy no 52/1 of Arambol village, there is a need to stop the operations immediately in order to safeguard the lives of the people.”

The deputy collector ordered the Mamlatdar of Pernem Taluka to seal all the premises of Sy no 52/1 of Arambol village immediately by vacating the people there in and report compliance.
