Goa Forward chief announces ward-wise cleanliness initiative
MARGAO
Goa Forward Party chief and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai joined Holi revellers at the SGPDA parking lot on Tuesday, using the festive occasion to call for unity among the people of Goa to bring about change in the State.
Addressing the gathering, Sardesai criticised the BJP-controlled Margao Municipal Council (MMC), alleging that it is the “most corrupt council” and accusing it of failing to maintain cleanliness in municipal wards.
Announcing the launch of the ‘Chaka Chak Campaign 3.0’, Sardesai said a cleanliness drive covering all municipal wards in Fatorda would begin on Wednesday as part of pre-monsoon preparations.
“When the Municipality fails to keep the wards clean with proper disposal of waste, we have to step in,” Sardesai said. “Over the last two years, we undertook cleaning of the wards by spending our own funds. This year too, we will launch the cleanliness campaign as part of the pre-monsoon works.”
He urged citizens to participate actively in maintaining cleanliness and work collectively towards improving civic conditions in the area.
