Ruling BJP ST leader Anthony Barbosa has strongly condemned the Indian National Congress and the INDI Alliance, blaming the Opposition for creating chaos in the Lok Sabha thereby obstructing the introduction of a historic and long-awaited bill: The Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Bill, 2024.
In a press release, Barbosa expressed serious concern that this important bill, vital for securing fair representation for Goa’s tribal communities was sidelined due to Congress and INDI Alliance MPs disruptive behavior.
He specifically called out Goa’s Congress MP, Captain Viriato Fernandes and his Congress Party for failing to defend the interests of the ST communities. “Captain Viriato and his Congress Party had an opportunity to stand up for our ST people, but instead chose silence and complicity. His actions today are deeply disappointing,” Barbosa said.
He further stated that today’s incident has made one thing clear: the Congress party and INDI Alliance does not want the ST community to receive its due recognition. “Their actions are not just political games; they are a direct betrayal of the tribal population of Goa,” Barbosa added.
He urged citizens to hold Congress and INDI Alliance accountable for obstructing justice and progress for marginalised communities of Goa.
