Chief Minister Pramod Sawant while greeting Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye on his birthday.
Praising Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye for his dedication towards the development of Bicholim constituency, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said Dr Shetye has been moving files forward at a fast pace, due to which many projects have been launched in Bicholim constituency in the last three years.
Speaking during his visit to greet Dr Shetye on his birthday in Bicholim on Tuesday, Sawant said Dr Shetye has been receiving great support from the people, an indication that his future is very bright.
“Although he is in the medical profession, Dr Shetye has also done a great job as chairman of the Goa Infotech Corporation. Dr Shetye is actively working to fulfil the expectations of the people in his constituency,” said Sawant.
Responding to the wishes, Dr Shetye told the chief minister that he did not aspire for a ministerial post, but said he is determined to build a grand sports complex in Bicholim town.
“My only wish on my birthday is that the chief minister can provide us with space and a plan for this project,” said Dr Shetye.
He also praised the chief minister for his constant encouragement and to all his well-wishers for their support.
Several leaders and personalities from the political, social, educational, cultural and medical fields were among the hundreds of people who were present to wish Dr Shetye on his birthday at a largely attended function at Zantye hall in Bicholim.
They included Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai, WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar, former chief minister Digambar Kamat, Saligao MLA Kedar Naik, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar, Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, Mayem MLA Premendra Shet, Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar, Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar, Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuemkar, former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar and BJP leader Datta Kholkar.
Earlier in the day, Dr Shetye visited various schools and celebrated his birthday with the children. He also distributed food with special children at Keshav Seva Sadhana School and also visited various temples and mosques to offer prayers.
