PANAJI:
The Congress party on Wednesday accused the BJP-led government of misusing government machinery to play dirty politics and spread venom in educational institutions.
The condemnation and charge came following a circular issued by the Directorate of Education asking schools to observe Samvidhan Hatya Diwas- the day Emergency was imposed in India in 1975.
Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao said that the politics can’t get any dirtier than this. “The murderers of Mahatma and constitutional values are now taking politics to educational institutions using official machinery. This is cheap, petty and filthy politics by BJP and dirty RSS agenda. People of India will condemn and oppose such abuse of power and dirty politics,” he said.
Stating that the Congress is committed to the Indian Constitution, Alemao questioned who is destroying the democratic freedoms and rights of citizens, Freedom of press and spreading Politics of communal hate, etc.
“BJP is playing this politics using children to divert the attention from their failures. It has failed in all aspects, be it providing employment or safety to the public. I condemn the act of BJP’s dirty politics,” Alemao said.
Meanwhile, Congress President Amit Patkar criticised the government for using educational institutions to promote its political agenda.
The opposition party claims this move is an attempt to influence young minds and undermine the country's constitutional values.
Patkar pointed out that the BJP's stance on the Constitution is ironic, given their past actions against the Constituent Assembly and the national flag.
