Count Olaf returns!

Daniel Handler’s A Series of Unfortunate Events is an interesting series of books and stories. One book was already adapted into a movie, starring Jim Carrey, but now Netflix has turned the books into a ‘television series’. The dark undertones of the books are clear in the series too and even Jim Carrey’s stellar performance as Count Olaf prompted producers to think of someone who can essay that role well. Enter Neil Patrick Harris, who wowed everyone when he played Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother. The trailer takes you through scenes from the entire season and it’s safe to say that Harris plays Count Olaf through his many disguises and characters well.

Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events tells the story of the three Baudelaire children – Violet, Klaus and Sunny, who lose their parents in a fire and are sent to live with their guardian, the sinister Count Olaf, who is clearly after their fortune. The books follow the children as they attempt to piece together clues about their parents in a move to find out what really happened to them. It’s a sad story but Handler’s writing makes it exciting as well, and a little melancholic.
