The Directorate of Education (DoE) has commenced disbursement of an amount of Rs 1,100 per student, to approximately 9,200 students of Class I and III, towards the purchase of school uniforms and raincoats.
The eligible student will receive the financial benefit through the Aadhaar-based payment system (ABPS). This is the first time the DoE has adopted a direct benefit transfer mechanism for the scheme titled “Supply of Raincoat and Uniform”.
The ADEIs and heads of the government primary schools are directed to complete the disbursement process by July 15.
According to the circular issued by Director Shailesh Zingade, a total amount of Rs 1.01 crore has been credited to the HDFC Bank account of the DoE by the government for disbursement.
As per the scheme, each student will get Rs 600 for the purchase of school uniforms and Rs 500 for raincoats.
Zingade said that the DoE, for the first time, has started the process of releasing payments to the beneficiaries through ABPS, ensuring benefits are credited to the last person.
Parents and guardians have been requested to coordinate with their respective schools and ensure submission of Aadhaar cards linked with bank accounts for the seamless transfer of the grants.
The Director has urged all concerned officials to treat the implementation of this scheme as “Top Priority.”
