Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar has informed that the state government has, so far, spent Rs 3.44 crore on Tourism Master Plan. Ajgaonkar provided this information while replying to a question tabled by Curtorim MLA, Alexio Lourenco in the Winter session of the Assembly.
Of this, Rs 3.43 cr has been paid to KPMG Advisory Services in five installments. The state government had appointed KPMG Advisory Services and Tourism and Leisure Advisory Services from Spain to come out with a tourism master plan and tourism policy for the state. The whole project has been divided into several stages.
Ajgaonkar also informed that the consultant has submitted reports on modules like ‘tourism scenario in Goa', ‘develop tourism concepts', ‘development of tourism master plan' and ‘development of tourism policy'.
The evaluation committee, which is under the chairmanship of principal secretary (tourism) has approved the reports for the first three modules. Ajgaonkar noted, "The draft Module 4 Report, which consists of the Tourism Policy, is being studied/reviewed by the evaluation committee and will be approved shortly."
Received ` 47 cr central funds for coastal circuits: Tourism Minister
PANAJI: In reply to a question tabled by Quepem MLA Chandrakant Kavlekar, Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar informed that Goa Tourism received Rs 47 crore as funds from the central government for development of coastal circuits in 2017.
Of this, Goa Tourism received around Rs 27 crore in 2017 under ‘Development of Coastal Circuit-I'. This project includes a lot of work in tourist areas of North Goa like development of Anjuna beach, parking facilities and handicap friendly access at Calangute and Mandrem beach, parking at Ashvem beach, changing rooms on beaches and development of Aguada Fort and Aguada Jail as tourist destinations.
Another Rs 20 crore was received under ‘Development of Coastal Circuit-II', which includes development of Rua De Ourem Creek at Panaji, facilities at Dona Paula and infrastructure at Colva and Benaulilm beaches.
