The International Dairy Federation has presented its prestigious ‘Innovation In School Milk Programmes’ award to Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) for effective implementation of Ksheerabhagya Yojana of Karnataka government with an objective to overcome malnutrition among school children.
KMF is the producer of Nandini brand of milk and milk products which are popular in Goa.
The Belagavi unit of the major cooperative headed by Chairman Vivek Patil supplies nearly 40,000 litres of milk to Goa.
In the absence of Balachandra Jarkiholi, who is Chairman of KMF and MLA from Arabhavi, Belagavi district, the award was received by KMF Managing Director B C Satish.
The award was handed over at the four-day ‘World Dairy Summit’ which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 12 at Greater Noida, New Delhi.
The Karnataka government’s ambitious and populous project Ksheerabhagya was implemented in the state nine years ago.
