After squandering four days of clear weather, the PWD finally swung into action on Sunday evening, addressing some critical road stretches in Mapusa.

A large depression near the ‘Abreu Typing Institute’ on the main district road (MDR), left unattended for nearly four months, was finally patched up following the Chief Minister’s intervention.

However, a pothole just 200 metres away on the same road still remains untouched. Meanwhile, the 500-metre stretch from Bodgeshwar temple to Mapusa “ riddled with broken tar, loose gravel and gaping potholes due to incomplete road widening “ was also taken up for hotmixing.

Ironically, the work began just as clouds gathered and light rain set in, after days of dry weather, raising concerns about the durability of the freshly laid surface.
