A passenger on an IndiGo Airlines flight to Surat caused a safety scare at Dabolim Airport on Saturday by opening the emergency exit flap cover of the aircraft during boarding. This led to a technical problem and posed a risk to passenger safety.
The incident was reported by Prajakta Gawas, Assistant Manager – Security at InterGlobe Aviation Ltd (IndiGo). According to the complaint, the passenger, identified as 34-year-old Sidapara Divyesh from Gujarat, opened the emergency flap despite being clearly told not to touch any aircraft equipment.
Airport officials said the act caused a technical issue and airline staff had to step in immediately.
Although no one was hurt, the incident is seen as a serious safety breach as it put other passengers at risk and disrupted routine procedures.
