'FORMULA 4' IN MOPA AIRPORT PRECINCTS
Activists and residents in Pernem will hold a public meeting near the Ayush Hospital in Dhargal on Sunday at 10 am to oppose the proposed 'Formula 4' race in the Mopa airport precincts.
Speaking to reporters in Pernem, an activist Uday Mahale raised concerns over hosting the 'Formula 4' race in the vicinity of the Mopa airport.
“The Manohar International Airport in Mopa is no longer limited to just flights, but has become a centre for exploitation and commercial profit,” said Mahale.
“Mopa Airport was meant to be used only for air traffic, but attempts are now being made to hold a 'Formula 4' race in the vicinity.”
“While bringing in mega projects to Pernem taluka, the locals were given false promises of jobs and their lands were acquired.
“Events like the 'Formula 4' races are not in the interest of the locals and should be stopped immediately. Now is not the time to sit quietly, but to take to the streets and fight for our rights,” Mahale added.
