On his 75th birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched new schemes for women’s health and child nutrition, including the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (SNSPA), the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah, the Suman Sakhi Chatbot, and direct transfers under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).

At the Seva Pakhwada programme in Kala Academy, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the schemes were “important steps for women’s empowerment and nutritional security.” He said SNSPA would hold over one lakh health camps across the country. In Goa, free tests for anaemia, hypertension, diabetes and cancer will be provided at PHCs and CHCs.

Under PMMVY, women will receive Rs 5,000 on the birth of their first girl child and Rs 6,000 on the second, with direct transfers ensuring transparency. Sawant also welcomed the Suman Sakhi Chatbot as “a helpful digital guide for maternal and child health.”

Highlighting Goa’s progress, Sawant said nearly 50,000 women are in self-help groups under the Rural Development Agency. Over Rs 350 crore has been provided as collateral-free revolving loans, including Rs 62 crore distributed on Wednesday. “This is real women’s empowerment,” he said.

He also mentioned tribal welfare programmes like the Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan and Aadi Seva Parv, and praised the Prime Minister’s call for Swadeshi and Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Extending birthday wishes, the CM credited Modi for Goa’s growth in both infrastructure and human resources — citing Mopa International Airport, super speciality hospitals, IIT, NIT and the National Water Sports Institute.
