In a rare show of unity, leaders of non-BJP parties — including Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, Revolutionary Goans Party Chief Manoj Parab, former AAP leader Rajesh Kalangutkar, and Goa Forward Party Chief Vijai Sardesai — came together at the Goa Forward Party-supported Shree Krishna Vijayutsav (popularly known as the Narkasur competition) held at the SGPDA grounds late on Sunday.

Those sharing the stage and calling for opposition unity included Congress MLAs Yuri Alemao and Alton D’Costa, Vijai Sardesai, Manoj Parab, Rajesh Kalangutkar, and others.

The leaders urged Goans to symbolically “burn the Narkasur ruling the state” and resist forces they said were leading Goa towards destruction.

Opposition Leader Yuri Alemao emphasised the need for opposition unity to protect Goa’s future. Revolutionary Goans Party Chief Manoj Parab warned that if Goans fail to burn the “Narkasur ruling Goa”, the state’s very culture could be in danger. In his fiery address, Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai said he was ready to make sacrifices for the people of Goa. He urged opposition parties to set aside their differences and unite to remove the BJP government and save Goa from further damage.
