The High Court of Bombay at Goa has taken on record a combined safety and public health report on the NH-66 Porvorim–Guirim stretch. This was done during the hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) related to the elevated corridor project.
The PIL was filed by advocate Moses Pinto, who appeared in person. He claimed that construction work on the corridor has led to serious road safety issues and high levels of dust pollution, putting commuters and nearby residents at risk.
During the hearing, the court accepted a consolidated report submitted by the petitioner. The report included suggestions given as per the court’s earlier order of December 8, 2025. It also contained findings from site inspections and pointed out several dangers along the corridor.
The report highlighted problems such as poor barricading, lack of advance warning signboards, unsafe movement of heavy construction material on busy roads, and the absence of proper temporary service roads. It said that some sections have become almost unusable for vehicles, posing a threat to life and safety.
The report also raised concerns over excessive dust settling on houses, plants and public areas.
The State government, concerned departments and project agencies, including the contractor, submitted their compliance reports to the court. These detailed safety steps, dust control measures, traffic management and construction methods. The court took these reports on record and posted the matter for further hearing on January 29.
