Salgaocar FC will start their pre-season practice session on Tuesday morning under the newly appointed coach Norberto Gonsalves.
The club had announced that they will be pulling out of the next I-League along with fellow Goan outfit Sporting Clube de Goa, citing All India Football Federation's (AIFF) nonchalance towards their interests as the major reason for withdrawal. However, the tide has turned a bit in the last couple of weeks, with top AIFF officials taking part in a discussion with the owners of the two clubs in Goa. Another meeting, slated to be held in Delhi in the last week of July, can bring the whole saga to an end.
While the players and the coaching staff will be eager to take part in the top flight league of the nation, the ensuing Goa league is the primary focus of team at the moment. The club has released long-time servant Rocus Lamare, who had represented the club in the last eleven seasons. The likes of Augustin Fernandes, Karanjit Singh and Albino Gomes will all be unavailable while youngsters like Mackroy Pexioto and Jovel Martins have been signed. Both of them were part of the Sporting set-up, when Norbert was an assistant coach there.
