The Green Goa Foundation (GGF) has served a legal notice on the Margao Municipal Council, alleging that it violated conditions laid down by the High Court for the Purumentachem Fest and warning of possible contempt proceedings.

GGF convenor Raison Almeida, who was the petitioner in the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) before the High Court, said that although the feast fair was scheduled to end on Sunday, stalls at the Old Market fair continued to operate until Tuesday.

Almeida claimed that the extension was in violation of the High Court’s order.

He has issued a seven-day deadline for the Chief Officer and other concerned authorities to respond to the notice.

He warned that if no satisfactory reply is received within the stipulated period, he will approach the High Court and seek contempt proceedings against those responsible.
