Panaji police seems to be dragging its feet in the cheating case that was registered on May 30 at 8.15 pm against Susanne Khan based on a complaint filed by Mudhit Gupta of Emgee Group.
After 19 days of complete inaction, Panaji police on Monday wrote to the accused asking her to submit documents relevant to the case or those pertaining to the transactions mentioned in the complaint.
However, the cops investigating the case are admittedly attempting to keep the Bollywood celebrity out of harm’s way.
“We have asked Khan to send us documents clarifying the allegations made in the FIR against her. If the documents are accurate enough, we might not need a statement from her,” stated Police Inspector Siddhant U Shirodkar.
Emgee Group, a high-end construction company, is currently engaged in building twelve designer villas as a part of its uber luxurious project ‘Naira’ in Firguem-Siridao.
In his complaint, Gupta has accused Khan, an interior designer, of faking her qualifications as an architect to bag a designing contract for the project.
He stated that not only did Khan fail to deliver the project in time, as stipulated in his contract, her work was also not to his satisfaction.
On probing further, he later realised that Khan wasn’t registered with the council of architects.
In response, Khan in a statement issued from London on Sunday, where she currently is, had said that the complaint is only a counterclaim to the arbitration proceedings she has filed against the Emgee Group in the first place to recover her dues.
