Ex-England player Sol Campbell has caused controversy on Twitter, getting #TeamLiam to trend, even though he has nothing to do with One Direction.

The ex-England player criticised the service he received from a man named Liam at the Cambridge Street Cafe on his Twitter account. He said: "Such terrible service from Liam at @CambridgeStCafe this morning! I will not be going back there again!"

This caused football fans to leap to Liam's defence. They started the hashtag #TeamLiam, to berate Mr. Campbell for his rudeness. "I pledge to spend a 100 pounds minimum at your cafe on my next trip to England #TeamLiam," said one user, while another wrote, "I've never been to your cafe but if @SolManOfficial is complaining then you must be doing something right! #TeamLiam."

The cafe, however, retained its dignity, by getting Liam to send him an apologetic and polite tweet that read, "@SolManOfficial: Liam here. Think we got off on the wrong foot. Would love to make amends. Hopefully see you soon."

This comes after the ex-footballer announced his bid for Conservative Mayor of London candidate in 2016, causing people to mock him online
