Aam Aadmi Party continuing with its Veez Andolan held a meeting near the market at Nerul in Saligao constituency where 25 people joined the party saying they were impressed with the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi and wanted it replicated in Goa. Close to 120 people attended the meeting.
Mario Cordeiro welcomed the people while Dr Vibhas Prabhudesai addressed them and confessed that he earlier stayed away from politics because it was a dirty game.
“However, after seeing the result of India against corruption that was launched by Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal, I changed my mind and firmly believing that only clean persons can clean politics and I am now with Aam Aadmi Party,” he said.
He pointed out that AAP began its political innings with only 28 MLAs and at the next elections the people of Delhi created history by electing 67 of its candidates in the House of 70 which enabled Kejriwal to deliver the promised goods to the people of Delhi.
He said in Delhi every household gets 20,000 litres of water free every month besides getting uninterrupted power supply which is also free if consumption is 200 units, and 50 per cent rebate is given if the consumption is up to 400 units per month.
He explained that government schools in Delhi are so good that people are now shifting their children from private schools to admit them to government schools some of which even have a swimming pool. Similarly, he said the Mohalla Clinics in Delhi are exemplary while the government hospitals and health centres in Goa are pathetic.
“At GMC, patients are made to sleep on the floor and no medicines are free while in Delhi at the Mohalla Clinic where besides examination even tests are conducted and free medicines can be obtained from the neighbouring pharmacy,” he said.
Mario Cordeiro while welcoming the people pointed out that there is no place at all in Nerul where people can sit and relax and enjoy fresh air or for that matter take a brisk walk or exercise themselves and said this is a problem all over the constituency.
Dr Vibhas castigated the Pramod Sawant government for mishandling the entire Covid pandemic and said that the CM is not working for Goa or Goans but only doing what his party leaders sitting in Delhi want.
