The Sattari Shigmo Committee demanded that the government conduct alcohol tests for artistes participating in Romtamel, folk dance, costume and tableau competitions during the festival. Addressing a news conference on Wednesday, the panel suggested that participants should submit a written undertaking assuring that they will not disturb public peace.
The committee said a memorandum would be submitted to the tourism department in this matter.
“The government must take the incident seriously. Artistes participating in Shigmo should undergo alcohol testing, and anyone found intoxicated should not be allowed to take part in the competitions,” said Committee Vice-President Vinod Shinde.
