Hot mix plants to resume Ops, contractors notified

Public Works Department Minister Digambar Kamat said on Wednesday that all hot mix plants in the State will start operating immediately, given that the rains have subsided in the last two days.
In fact, Kamat said that the PWD contractors, who have bagged road contracts, have been told to immediately start the work of hot mixing of roads.
He told the media on the sidelines of the Mhaje Ghar programme launch at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on Wednesday that the operators of all hot mix plants have been told to gear up and immediately start operations since the rains have subsided in the last two days.
“The weather forecast says that the unseasonal rains will subside from today. Hence, the hot mix plant operators have been told to gear up for the operations,” Kamat said.
He added: “The hot mix plants went into operation, but were shut down again due to the unseasonal rains. The contractors are also gearing up to execute the hot mixing works.”
To a question, the PWD Minister said the department has floated so many tenders on road works, adding that the contractors have been instructed to commence the hot mixing works immediately.
