After a five-month break, the Pai Tiatrist hall and the Black Box of Margao’s Ravindra Bhavan reopened on Wednesday, with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant saying the renovation and repair work has cost the exchequer Rs two crore.
Accompanied by PWD Minister Digambar Kamat, Art and Culture Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, Chairman of Ravindra Bhavan Rajendra Talak and others, the Chief Minister visited the Black Box to announce the reopening of the auditorium and the Black Box for the public.
Sawant directed officials to expedite pending works on the long-delayed annexe building. “Works on the annexe building have been pending for over a decade now. Once completed, the annexe building will give a boost to art and culture,” Sawant said.
The Chief Minister lauded the PWD engineers and contractors for completing the renovation on fast track. “The renovation work has cost the government Rs two crore,” he said, acknowledging the support of Kamat and Tawadkar in fast-tracking the project.
PWD Minister Digambar Kamat said the work had been completed within the targeted timeline. “The PWD has been able to complete the renovation work within a short span of time. The Chief Minister has been kind enough in giving relaxations, which helped in expediting the works,” he said.
Kamat added that the BJP government had honoured its commitment to reopen the Ravindra Bhavan on schedule.
