The High Court of Bombay at Goa is likely to hear on Wednesday a petition filed by disqualified Arpora-Nagoa sarpanch Roshan Redkar and dismissed panchayat secretary Raghuvir Bagkar, challenging the Mapusa court order that rejected their applications for anticipatory bail in the Birch fire case.
The local court had earlier rejected their anticipatory bail pleas in the devastating fire at the ‘Birch by Romeo Lane’ bar and nightclub in Arpora on December 6, 2025 which claimed 25 lives.
After the magisterial report pointed to serious lapses, the State government dismissed Bagkar from service, holding him responsible for grave dereliction of duty that allegedly enabled the illegal operation of the establishment where the fire occurred.
In a separate order, the government disqualified Redkar with immediate effect for misuse and abuse of power in the case.
