4 booked after car rams pedestrians in Vasco

Two victims assaulted with hockey sticks and robbed of cash

Two pedestrians were seriously injured after they were allegedly deliberately hit by a car and assaulted with hockey sticks near the Coast Guard gate at Mangor Hill, Vasco, on Tuesday night. Four persons have been booked in this connection.

According to the complaint filed by Sohail Shaikh (26) of Shantianagar-Vasco, the incident occurred at around 9.10 pm when he and his uncle Irfan Makandar were crossing the road near the Coast Guard gate at Mangor Hill while heading towards their residence at Fakir Galli, Mangor Hill, Vasco.

The accused, identified as Ismail Shaikh alias Kabbu, Amit Gawade alias Chote, Nawaz Shaikh and another accused named Nawaz, all from Vasco, allegedly driven by previous enmity, arrived in a car and intentionally rammed the vehicle into the complainant and his uncle.

The complaint states that after hitting them, the accused alighted from the car armed with hockey sticks and assaulted both victims, causing serious injuries to their heads and other parts of the body. During the assault, the accused allegedly robbed Rs 5,000 in cash from the complainant’s pocket.

Based on the complaint, Vasco police registered an offence under Sections 109, 118(2), 118(1) and 303(2), read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Mayur Sawant of Vasco police station under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
