The Colva police have arrested three local taxi drivers in connection with the video showing a lady tourist from Ahmedabad complaining of harassment meted out to her at Betalbatim on September 15.
Upon a suo motu complaint lodged by PSI Manju Vantamuri of Colva Police Station, police said the trio, Menino D'Silva, Milagres Almeida and Agnelo Rodrigues, all residents of Nagvaddo, Betalbatim, being local taxi drivers, with their common intention allegedly wrongfully restrained another tourist taxi vehicle driver booked by the guest of a hotel resort, which had come to pick up the guest to drop her at the airport.
The police further alleged that the accused persons also stopped the lady guest, namely Rajani Ashish Matta, resident of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and did not allow her to sit in the tourist taxi which she had booked online. As a result, the guest with her luggage was forced to walk for kilometres in the rain to find another taxi vehicle. As a result, the guest suffered mental and physical harassment over the issue of choosing another tourist taxi for the drop to the airport.
The trio were arrested and later released on bail.
