The Dabolim Airport Traffic Cell on Saturday conducted a special enforcement drive against vehicles fitted with tinted glass, booking violators under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. The drive was carried out under the supervision of PI Rahul Damshekar and covered key stretches under the jurisdiction of the Traffic Cell.

During the operation, traffic police stopped several vehicles and checked them for illegal tinting on wind shields and side windows. Vehicles found violating the prescribed visibility norms were issued challans on the spot, and drivers were instructed to remove the tinted film as per traffic rules.

The special drive follows a strong appeal made by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant during the assembly session, where he directed authorities to act firmly against the use of tinted glass, irrespective of the status of the vehicle owner.

The chief minister had stated that action should be taken even if such vehicles belonged to MLAs or other public representatives.

Traffic officials said similar drives would continue in the coming days to ensure compliance with directions and to enhance road safety, as tinted glass hampers visibility and poses a security risk. Motorists were asked to adhere to traffic regulations and avoid illegal modifications to their vehicles.
