To test the overall operational fitness level of the Fire Personnel for prompt response in the event of any emergency, the 38th Annual Drill Competition was conducted for all the Fire Stations in the State on Saturday at Fire Force Training Ground in St Inez, Panaji. The annual drill competitions comprised of Squad Drill, Ladder Drill, Pump Drill and Tug of War. This annual event is held to bring forth the talents of the Fire Force Personnel in limelight and encourage the participants to showcase their skills and enhance their self-esteem.
The station-wise annual drill competition is a proud tradition of the department and a true test of fitness, discipline, teamwork, and professional skills essential for effective firefighting and emergency response stated Nitin Raiker, director of Fire & Emergency Services.
Mohan Naik, former Superintendent of Police, Goa Police, Dr Vishal Katekar, Research Associates, NIDM, M K Sharma, former Divisional Officer, Delhi Fire Service and Gopal B Shetye, Station Fire Officer (DFES) (Retd) judged the events. Rupesh Sawant, Station Fire Officer compered the function and the vote of thanks was presented by Shripad Gawas, Divisional Officer (North Zone).
The winners in Squad Drill were: Fire Force Headquarters (first), Margao Fire Station (second), Curchorem Fire Station (third); Ladder Drill: Fire Force Headquarters (first), Verna Fire Station (second), Margao Fire Station (third); Pump Drill: Mapusa Fire Station, Margao Fire Station, Pernem Fire Station; Tug of War: Fire Force Headquarters.
