The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Government of Goa, has achieved a significant milestone by winning the Skoch Award for its flagship initiative, Converge – Shiksha Udyojak Sangam. This award recognizes the DHE’s excellence in implementing best practices that bridge the gap between academia and industry.

'Converge' is a transformative summit designed to foster a future-ready academic culture through strategic innovation and collaboration. By bringing together higher education institutions and industry giants (such as IBM, Intel, and TCS), the initiative ensures that curricula align with real-world demands while providing students with direct access to mentorship and cutting-edge technology.

Following were the key highlights of the initiative: Industry-academia synergy: Facilitates direct dialogue between 40 plus colleges and global industry leaders to enhance employability and skill development.

Innovation ecosystem: Features the "Innovative Idea Challenge," providing a launchpad for student entrepreneurs and groundbreaking startup projects.

Massive impact: Successfully engaged over 15,000 students and faculty members across Goa.

Global partnerships: Collaborates with 150+ expert speakers and partners like IBM SkillsBuild and CSRBOX to provide professional certifications and internships.

This recognition boosts Goa’s position as a leader in educational governance and its commitment to creating a "Viksit Goa" through a skilled and entrepreneurial workforce.
