Continuing its operations against restaurants and eateries run in unhygienic conditions, officials of the Food and Drugs Administration on Monday shut down an eatery at Khareband.
The FDA also carried out inspections at the Old Market feast fair, checking the hygiene standards of fast-food stalls.
A team led by FDA officer Sanjyot Kudalkar conducted the inspection and ordered the immediate closure of the premises run by one Allah Bakhx, citing poor hygiene conditions.
The FDA officer later told the media that the premises were being run in unhygienic conditions and in violation of rules. She said the source of the water used by the eatery remained unknown, adding that the wastewater was being let out in the open.
“We have found that the workers had no health cards and they were not wearing head caps. The premises are not fit to be kept open. The owner, we have been told, is out of station,” she said, adding that the eatery has been told to comply with the deficiencies.
