PORVORIM
A 57-year-old fisherman from Nerul drowned while fishing in the sea off Reis Magos on Sunday evening.
Porvorim Police informed that they received a call from the medical office of Candolim Primary Health Centre that one person had been brought dead to the Casualty by a 108 Ambulance.
A police team led by PSI Pratik Tulaskar went to the Candolim PHC, and the deceased was identified as Francis Lobo from Nerul.
During the course of the enquiry, it was revealed that Lobo had gone fishing at Reis Magos Beach. While spreading the fishing net, he accidentally got entangled in it and was dragged into the sea.
Locals present at the spot later brought Lobo ashore and shifted him to the Candolim PHC, where he was declared brought dead.
Police then conducted the panchanama and sent the body for an autopsy at the Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim. No foul play has been suspected, and PSI Tulaskar is conducting further investigations.
