“Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word ‘Yog’ – an Indian tradition that has been followed for thousands of years. The Patanjali Yog Sutra explains the benefits of Yoga in detail. Yog cleanses not only our body but our mind as well as our soul too. Yoga is an inseparable part of our Indian culture, and our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promoted it on the global platform, which is why the people worldwide are discussing about this modality and embracing Yoga for making their lives better,” stated Dr Naresh Kumar Katariya, Regional Controller of Mines, Indian Bureau of Mines, regional office Goa. Dr Katariya was addressing the yoga day programme organised by Fomento Resources on the International Yoga Day at its Kuddegal plant.
Stating that one can include Yoga in his daily routine and make his life better, Dr Katariya further added that this year’s theme of International Yoga Day aptly focuses on environment, health and earth.
“The three things are combined together to make human beings healthy and if mankind is healthy, the entire earth will be healthy. We all can make this happen by contributing to the cause and including Yoga in our daily lives. Let 21 June not be a one-day festive programme for following Yoga, but let’s all make it a lifelong habit, practiced every single day,” appealed Dr Katariya, an IIT (ISM) Dhanbad alumni.
The programme began with a welcome speech by Col Arun Kumar Sharma, Director HR at Fomento Resources. “Yoga is India’s gift to the world. Yoga started from India and it has spread all across the world. This year’s theme for the International Day of Yoga is ‘One Earth, One Health’ and hence let each one of us keep it in mind that we should embrace yoga in our day-to-day lives for physical, mental and spiritual well-being,” appealed Col Sharma and thanked Dr Katariya for attending the Yoga day programme.
